MONITORING VIOLATIONS ANNUAL NOTICE

TCEQ NOTICE

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DRINKING WATER
Monitoring Requirements Not Met for: CITY OF CORINTH

The City of Corinth is committed to transparency and providing safe, reliable drinking water. In accordance with regulatory requirements, we are providing the following public notice regarding a monitoring violation. This notice is required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and is intended to keep our residents fully informed.

The City is required to monitor your drinking water for bacteriological contaminants on a monthly basis. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not our drinking water meets health standards. As part of this requirement, the City collects and submits routine bacteriological (coliform) samples each month to ensure compliance with state regulations.

During the January 2026 compliance period, severe winter weather in the region disrupted normal operations. As a result, the City did not collect all of the required coliform bacteria samples (5 of 25 samples were missed) and, therefore, cannot be sure of the quality of your drinking water during that time. Although this situation was not an emergency, as our customers, you have a right to know what happened and what we did to correct this situation.

What should I do?

There is nothing you need to do at this time. You may continue to drink the water. If a situation arises where the water is no longer safe to drink, we are required to notify you within 24 hours.

Why did this occur?

The violation occurred during a citywide shutdown associated with a severe freeze event. The emergency conditions disrupted normal operations, resulting in 5 of the 25 required coliform samples not being collected within the designated compliance period.

What is being done?

The City collected the required sample on February 3, 2026; however, this occurred three days outside of the required monthly sampling schedule. The City has since returned to compliance. The City has coordinated with its laboratory, which has confirmed availability to remain open during emergency or abnormal conditions to support required sampling. Moving forward, all required coliform samples will be collected and submitted within the designated compliance periods to meet Texas Commission on Environmental Quality requirements. Procedures have been reinforced to ensure timely and accurate monitoring and reporting.
