House Bill 2844 Implementation for Mobile Food Vendors

On May 26, 2025, the 89th Texas Legislature passed House Bill 2844, establishing a statewide regulatory framework for mobile food vendors in Texas. The legislation creates a new occupational licensing program administered by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to provide consistent standards across the state, reduce regulatory differences between jurisdictions, and support locally owned food-based businesses through a streamlined licensing process. 

Beginning July 1, 2026, all Mobile Food Vehicles must be licensed with the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to operate a Food Vending Vehicle in the state of Texas. 

Changes to Vendor Operations within Corinth

  • Starting July 1, 2026, all Mobile Food Vendors operating within Corinth city limits, must hold a state-issued license from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS).
  • The City of Corinth will no longer issue a local health permits for Mobile Food Vendors after July 1, 2026.
